The Wildlife Trusts
Dorset Wildlife Trust
Our vision is a sustainable future for Dorset’s wildlife and people, where nature conservation contributes to everyone’s quality of life and that of future generations. Our new business plan 'Wildlife For All' describes more about who we are and what we wnat to achieve.

Who we are
The Dorset Wildlife Trust was founded in 1961 to protect the wildlife and natural habitats of the county. Our founders’ efforts to conserve the unspoilt beauty of Dorset attracted wide-ranging support and the Trust has grown to become the largest voluntary conservation organisation in the county with over 21,000 members.

What we do
The Dorset Wildlife Trust is working to rebuild the diversity of the county’s wildlife. We deliver conservation gains through our network of nature reserves and wildlife sites and help to protect threatened wildlife habitats and species. We also see to influence others who affect the wildlife of Dorset (landowners, farmers, local authorities, developers & businesses) and promote a better understanding and appreciation of wildlife by engaging people of all ages and backgrounds.
