After reaching agreement with Uplyme residents, Lyme Regis Football Club agrees to site their new pitch a bit further down the hill from Strawberry Fields to the less romantically named Gorse Bush Ridge.
I'm going to need a bigger board! Lyme is famous for its beautiful coastline and beaches. While it is a haven for tourists and locals alike there are some things to be mindful of such as tide times if you plan on walking the beach, fossil hunting or water activities. Please check with the tourist information centre if you are unsure, telephone 01297 442 138.
Don't make me angry! We are blessed not only with a beautiful coastline and beaches but also spectacular surrounding countryside that offers walks and views unlike anywhere else. There are routes through the unique flora and fauna of the "Undercliff" to the West and breathtaking views from walks to the East through Charmouth, Golden Cap, St Gabriels and along to Chesil Beach or further to the Isle of Portland if you are that energetic. There are a number of walks to the North, through the lovely neighbouring village of Uplyme and following the Dorset/Devon border, all the way to Somerset if you wish, which is about 13 miles. There are no walks to the South, unless you are a visiting Deity.
Note: please don't upset the wildlife on any of the walks, they can fight back!
There are guided walks available please ask at the town's Tourist Information Centre.
